There are many types of data collected by K-12 educational organizations. Student data abounds, but access to and use of that data is constrained by confidentiality requirements and the absence of a unified data repository. This presentation will describe the nature of educational data collection in New York State, provide authentic examples of both descriptive and predictive data analytics currently underway, and point to the potential for further research.
New York's publicly accessible educational data resources will be described, as will some of the other educational data sources that are confidential but available to schools to provide further insight into student, teacher, and school district performance.
